Gen-4.5
Runway's latest video model — up to 10 seconds of cinematic output with image reference support and multiple aspect ratios. The current quality ceiling of the Gen-4 family.
What is Gen-4.5?
Gen-4.5 is Runway's latest video generation model and the current quality ceiling of the Gen-4 architecture. It extends the Gen-4 Turbo's format flexibility with a quality-first focus, longer clip duration support at up to 10 seconds, and image reference capability.
Image reference input allows you to supply a visual to guide the generation — a product shot, a character reference, a scene composition — and the model uses it as context for the output. This bridges the gap between text-only generation and reference-driven production workflows.
At 10 seconds, Gen-4.5 supports complete narrative sequences in a single clip. Combined with multiple aspect ratio options and Runway's cinematic output quality, Gen-4.5 is the model to use for final-quality Runway deliverables when you've finished iterating on direction.

Best use cases
Final Runway deliverables
After prototyping in Gen-4 Turbo, move to Gen-4.5 for the final render. The quality-first focus delivers the polish expected for professional content delivery.
Image-guided product video
Supply a product image reference to anchor the visual context and generate a cinematic motion clip that stays visually consistent with your existing photography.
10-second complete scenes
10 seconds is enough for a full scene arc. Use Gen-4.5 for product demos, brand film sequences, and any content that needs more than a short-form clip to tell its story.
Creative direction finalisation
Generate multiple image-referenced directions to finalize creative before committing to production. Gen-4.5's quality means these outputs are close to final-delivery standard.
